The words of soldiers, almost at the brink of death, or knowing deep down that the end was near, were written in plain ink and paper.  Long after they’re gone, the paper that had thinned with age, almost yellow, are all that is left of them to their families.

Guess, their loved ones can still sense a part of them in the ink that conveyed the contemplation of these soldiers in their last days.

1. Captain Vijayant Thapar, a 22-year-old martyr at Totoling peak during Kargil War and his last words to his family written on June 29th, 1999.

2. A letter to his family from Eric Fox Lubbock, 24 who was killed in Ypres, 1917, World War I.

3.  An insightful letter from Michael Andrew Scott who was killed in the English Channel.

6. Another love letter, written by a U.S Medical Corps to his wife at the time of World War II.

7. A  letter written by a wounded soldier in a hospital in England on January 29, 1915.

8.  J.C Morris of the 21st Texas Cavalry wrote to his wife in 1863.

The story 15 Ways Of Getting Rid Of That Creative Block Which Is Stopping Your Artistic Flow appeared first on StoryPick.

A block in your mind.

More popularly known as the Writer’s block, but this happens to everyone all the time. You don’t really have to an artist to be in a fix like this but an artist’s livelihood comes in serious threat when this unwanted guest surpasses knocking on the doors of your brain and makes itself at home quite easily.

Here are a few ways of getting rid of it and getting your creativity back.

1. Break your routine. Routine kills creativity.

Where’s the room for being creative?

2. Pull out all the ideas you’ve put on the backburner.

They’ve been sitting like the bride of a soldier waiting for you, bro.

3. Don’t go back into your work looking for inspiration.

You’ll keep coming back to the same solutions as you did before and you’re not going to like it.

4. Get out on the streets and take pictures of anything and everything to see if anything inspires you.

The world has so much to give!

5. Watch the Matrix Trilogy to get the creative adrenaline running.

The movies are riddled with hidden meanings. Give your mind some Neo exercise. 😛

6. Go on a diet, frustration is at its peak on an empty stomach and frustration will fuel your creativity.

Don’t you feel your angriest when you’re hungry? Use your angst to create something.

7. Radically different from the previous point, get down to cooking and get creative with your food.

You are Picasso and the kitchen your canvas.

8. Watch other people be creative on YouTube. Jealousy is the best policy.

They’re shitting rainbows. Literally.

9. Air guitar to Slash’s singles just for fun.

Feel like you’re good at something else too, for a change. 😀

10. Dance like a maniac in front of the mirror and make yourself roll on the floor laughing.

Laughing frees you, so will it free your mind.

11. Read the books or examine the work of the artists you envy with all your heart.

What’s better than that!

12. Think of how famous people like Oprah would do your job.

Maybe that’s the way to go.

13. Procrastinate and push yourself into fear of losing your sanity.

When your tail is on fire, you tend to run faster.

14. Destroy a few things (material things you have no love for, btw) and try to put them together back again.

Even if you’re not able to put them all together, you’ll come up with reusing them to create something amazing!

15. Watch something scary to get fascinating nightmares.

Your nightmares can turn into your future stories. B|

Don’t you wish you had a creative block just to be an excuse to go mad hatter?

Peace out. B|

The story 20 Movies Which Will Confuse The Hell Out Of You appeared first on StoryPick.

Every once in a while, there comes a movie which sticks in your brain. And no, not for the nice way. Because you just can’t figure out what happened in it, and you either go for a rewatch, or you scour the internet for a logical explanation to quell your building intrigue.

We bring you some of the most confusing movies ever made.

1. Dark City

The premise: A person wakes up in a hotel with his memory lost and accused of some weird murders. While trying to figure things out, he gets lost in a world controlled by other beings and where there is no sun.Yes, it went from simple to weird like that.

Yes, it went from simple to weird like that.

2. Memento

The premise: A person with short term memory loss tries to piece together information and find out his wife’s rapist and murderer. What is confusing is the way Christopher Nolan has shot the film, in true Neo Noir essence.

Ghajini was inspired from this.

3. Shutter Island

The premise: A U.S. Marshall steps onto Shutter Island to investigate the disappearance of a mental patient. Things take a turn for the worse when a hurricane cuts off communication from the island, and the marshall starts doubting everything.

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. You can’t go wrong.

4. Inception

The premise: A group of specialists enter the mind of a corporate magnate and use the dream within a dream technology to plant an idea in his brain.Leonardo DiCaprio and Christopher Nolan work their magic like always.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Christopher Nolan work their magic like always.

Christopher Nolan is a master of intricately confusing movies.

6. Mulholland Drive

Mulholland Drive is a movie like no other. It appears as a disjoint collage of many short films and the end does not make anything clear.

7. Looper

The premise: In the year 2074, whenever a target is wanted to be killed, he is sent back in time by the mafia, where they have a hired killer to their job for them. Things take a surprise twist when the killer’s future self is sent back to be killed by himself.Time travel is the most confusing concept here, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis fit the roles perfectly.

8. Source Code

The premise: A US Army helicopter pilot finds himself waking up in a train after crashing his helicopter in Afghanistan. A bomb explodes, and he dies, and wakes up in a scientific setup. He is told that he can be put in another person’s consciousness and live the last 8 minutes of their lives. His mission: Find the bomber.

9. American Psycho

The premise: A wealthy and charming New York investment banker earns a fortune and is living is dream by day. But by night, he slips into his psychopathic alter ego which he works hard to hide from his friends.

Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey pull the movie off with ease, but the visuals make it hella confusing.

12. 2001: A Space Odyssey

The premise: Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece is focused around evolution and how the placing of certain monoliths throughout the universe has enable humans to find technology and evolve. It’s the ultimate competition between humans and computers.

16. Pi

The premise: A harrowed but genius mathematician believes that the universe can be understood by numbers and math, and hence goes on to build a supercomputer which will provide some key towards understanding existence.

Darren Aronofsky is a master of moving stories and this one is no less.

17. Jacob’s Ladder

The premise: A Vietnam war veteran struggles to keep his sanity as he is plagued by disturbing memories of his dead son, and his divorced wife, while he works overtime in the post office.

This one is a lesser known movie, but IMDb and cult fans love it.

The premise: A factory worker who hasn’t slept for a year begins to lose an immense amount of weight. He further begins to doubt his sanity when unexpected post-it notes start turning up on his fridge and he is dusturbed by a co-worker to may not even exist.

Christian Bale really lost a shitload of weight for perfecting this role, and totally nailed it.

19. Rear Window

The premise: A photographer is left to stay at his house after hurting his leg. He passes his time looking out of his house’s rear window. One day, he suspects a man, whom he can see from the window, might have killed his wife and he enlists his friends’ help.

The movie is directed by none other than the master of thriller movies, Alfred Hitchcock.

20. The Prestige

The premise: Two magicians compete against each other to create the ultimate illusion which the fans can never guess. Their rivalry takes an unexpected turn when one of them tries to discover the secrets of the other.

Christian Bale again and Hugh Jackman star in yet another Christopher Nolan masterpiece.

Honourable mention: No Smoking

The premise: A man who’s a chain smoker is repeatedly pressurised by his wife and friends to quit. When his wife leaves, he finally joins an institution, but backs out. Strange things start happening when he relapses, as the Guruji had predicted.

Anurag Kashyap is a brilliant director. He’s the black horse of Indian cinema and is slowly changing the face of how people view movies.

Movies are the gateway for expressing a story and some stories are so simple, yet the mind does not grasp their simplicity hidden underneath layers of language and visuals.

14 Awesome Science Fiction Concepts That Are Possible In Near Future

The story 14 Awesome Science Fiction Concepts That Are Possible In Near Future appeared first on StoryPick.

We live in interesting times.

Many science fiction concepts that were fiction some decades ago are slowly becoming reality as scientists push the boundaries of science every day.

After reading through every breakthrough news of dazzling science, you cannot help but wonder that it was the same concept that was the core story of your favorite science fiction movie of your childhood.

Many of these technologies are still developing and evolving and trying very hard to become reality.

1. Matrix-style learning where you can accelerate learning with a computer

We are some way off from actually downloading data into our brains, but scientists have figured out how to enhance and accelerate learning. They stimulate the brain through electrical impulses and as a result, have seen the test subjects learning new things at an astonishing pace.

The tech is still in the development stage, so do not get high hopes of getting it to crack your final exams.

Fact Source

2. Printing new organs with a bionic 3D printer

Organ stealing is going to be a thing of the past because scientists are developing technology where printing live tissues will be a possibility.

The current technology obviously does not produce fully functional live organs, because quite simply put, human organs are just too complicated to be printed with the present technology.

Fact Source

3. Mind-controlled artificial limbs

Suppose a hand is cut off exactly at the wrist. Designing a prosthetic hand for the amputee is still easier because the muscles of the forearm and the bones and the nerves are still intact.

Such is not the case for amputees with a whole leg or an arm missing.

The electronic sensors for advanced prosthetic arms go straight to the sensory cortex in your brain and you can do the lightest and most delicate of hand movements after the bionic arm is calibrated.

The electrical arm also comes with a feedback system that lets the user know how hard he is gripping the object in the arm.

Fact Source

4. Laser guns that can destroy small boats and intercept missiles

A laser gun was demonstrated publicly by the US Navy that has the capability to destroy small boats and also intercept missiles mid-air.

They are completely electrically powered and will never run out of firepower as long as the ship has power.

Fact Source

5. Nanorobots that will start fighting diseases and conduct surgery too

In a few decades, nanobots will be swimming inside your body, fighting infections and diseases actively.

Scientists claim that by the 2030s, nanobots will also help in delicate surgeries to cure deadly diseases like cancer.

They are already used to cure type-I Diabetes today.

Fact Source

6. Flexible viewing screens that you can fold and keep in your pocket

It is basically paper that can display HD movies and then you can just fold it and put it in the pocket.

These thin displays can be pasted on wall surfaces and the small ones can be put on your wrists as you are traveling.

Fact Source

7. Telescopic lenses that will let you literally zoom into objects without spectacles

Scientists have already manufactured experimental artificial lenses that can zoom to a factor of almost 3X.

That means you can see an object three times closer than you actually are. These lenses are already being tested for military applications as of today.

Fact Source

8. Wireless charging

Power cords will be as obsolete as compact discs are today. Wireless charging is the future.

It already exists for small devices like your smartphone, but improvements are being made to it so that even a big device like a car battery can be charged wirelessly one day.

Fact Source

9. Thought based inputs that will replace even touchscreens

Scientists are working on making brainwaves translatable into words. The simplest application of such a breakthrough would be thought-based text messages.

You just have to think what you have to text and your phone will translate your thoughts into texts which you can then send by just another thought.

Fact Source

10. Weather on demand

We already know about cloud seeding where planes spray substances that cause rain clouds to precipitate and cause rainfall.

Scientists are coming up with a technology laser beams will be shot into clouds to generate rain and lightning. With this technique, scientists are planning to control lightning and rain over a vast area.

Fact Source

11. Deflector shields that will deflect enemy fire

Deflector shields are theoretically possible too. Students from the University of Leicester have theorized a design of an actual deflector shield.

The shield will be a strong magnetic field containing a super-dense plasma field.

The only catch is that it only deflects laser beams and not actual bullets.

Fact Source

12. Cloaks that will hide you, your sounds and also your body heat signature

We already have cloaks that hide our thermal signatures. Since most militaries use thermal goggles to spot enemy troops, these cloaks hide soldiers more efficiently on any terrain.

Scientists are working on metamaterials that will refract light in a way that people wearing them will be camouflaged not just to sight, but even to touch and sound.

But developing and manufacturing metamaterials is extremely expensive and scientists are figuring out a way to make their production cheaper and more efficient.

Fact Source

13. Cryonics – where you can be frozen and then live forever

Cryonics is a field of science where your body is frozen and preserved until future science and technology will revive the body fully so that the frozen body can live again.

Cryogenics is a budding field of science that is very seriously pursued by scientists. There are commercial cryogenic services already, where you can freeze yourself for a lot of money, obviously.

Fact Source

14. Cyber implants which make you a cybernetic organism – just like the Terminator

Pacemakers and artificial hearts are already are technically making people cybernetic organisms in a way. That’s because you have a fully functional electronic device inside you that is helping you be fully functional.

Scientists are tirelessly working to bridge the gap between machines and humans and making the human-machine interface as smooth and seamless as possible.

In the future machine arms and an electronic eye is not a farfetched proposition.

The future is an exciting place, where fiction suddenly becomes real, with every passing day.

Stanley Kubrick is known as one of the world’s most brilliant cinematic visualisers. His usage of trippy camera angles, combined with intense dialogue, and larger than life musical scores set him apart, and made him one of the best there has ever been. Think ‘2001: A Space Odyssey,’ and there can be no better example of what Kubrick could accomplish in a three-hour video.

We remember some of the most hard-hitting and brilliant lines ever spoken in his almost  years of magnanimous cinema.

The story This Video On How Women Are Objectified In Ads Is Dripping With Sarcasm And Truth appeared first on StoryPick.

We are almost accustomed to objectification of women.

The most alarming part is we don’t see a problem with the little off color jokes on a woman’s body, the little rating games that the Romeos indulge on the  roadside, the lecherous gaze that wants to scoop out as much as possible from an unmindful maladjustment of the clothes and so on. We buy and sell the female body, commodifying it through advertisement everyday. We let children grow up with such a distorted perception of women instilled deep inside.

Finally someone speaks up

If you’re remotely sensitive to the issue in concern, you’d appreciate this video by WomenNotObjects. It is a sarcastic take on the society’s view on women and how the media capitalizes on the loathsome tendencies of patriarchy. If it requires a commercial to flaunt a woman’s breasts in the most distasteful manner to describe the qualities of a the new burger place, it’s evident that we are imbeciles and have not yet earned the right to call ourselves civilized. This is exactly what the video talks about with concerning message which is relevant everyone.

Hope the video succeeds in its motive.

The story 10 Types Of People You Will Deal With As A Career Oriented Woman appeared first on StoryPick.

It would be wrong to say that our country hasn’t become progressive at all. But there is a huge part of our population who still doesn’t see women as an equal counterpart of men. They do support us, but when it comes to taking over the positions which traditionally have always belonged to men, they become very apprehensive about the capabilities of a woman.

Some people don’t like change at all. So, if you are a career oriented woman who wants to break all boundaries and prove every single person, who thought you cannot do what a man can, wrong, then you will encounter all kinds of people who’ll try to pull you down. The trick is to not listen to them and believe in yourself. Do not stop, come what may!

Here are a few types of people you will have to deal with as a career oriented woman.

1. The aunt who wants you to get married

According to our society, as soon as a girl crosses the age mark of 25, she starts ‘losing her value’ in this huge matrimony market. If you are 30, and you are not married, it means there something wrong with you. So, there will always be this one person who will be very concerned about your marriage over your career.

2. The friend who wants you to chill out

He/She will think that you are over excited, or aspiring for something you cannot become. But you shouldn’t stop. He/She might tell you to chill out, but that’s just because you are on the verge of achieving something which others can’t.

3. The boss who tells you to go home as it’s not safe fo women late at night

It might just be a plain call for safety, but it sure is a hindrance in your work.

4. The uncle who thinks you have zero finance sense

A lot of men live under the impression that girls are weak with finances. They can’t handle money. Well, you won’t find a better time to prove them wrong.

5. The colleague who thinks you can’t lead a group of employees

Leadership quality is apparently an exclusive ‘men’ trait. So, if a female decides to lead a group with a large number of males in it, then she is going to fail miserably. Right, guys? -_-

6. To be in-laws who think your marriage will be the end of your career

This piece of information is taken for granted. In some families, it isn’t even up for a discussion. “If your husband is earning so much, why do you need to work. Sit and enjoy life.” Sigh! When will they understand that career is not just about the money!

7. A love interest who thinks your career is more of a hobby

He will expect you to move with him if his job changes, he will think it’s okay for you to bunk days or take half days every other day, but he can’t do that at his ‘serious job’.

8. A client who thinks you are too delicate to handle their deal

It might be a big deal involving millions, and the clients might have complete faith in the company, but they’ll doubt if you being a woman are handling their deal single-handedly. Well, you should go ahead and ace it, so that they don’t ever doubt another woman again.

9. A distant relative who thinks you have crossed all the moral boundaries

A woman, who decides to live alone in a big city, manages her own expenses, wears whatever she wants, has a lot of friends, parties on weekends and splurges on herself is promiscuous and uncivilised person who has forgotten her moral limits. Right aunty?

10. You, yourself. Because of all the societal prejudices and pressures, the last person you have to deal with is you.

At the end of the day, it’s you who will have to rise and shine against all these prejudices and prove each and everyone wrong. Be positive, surround yourself with people who believe in you and stay away from negativity (there’s going to be a lot of it). Aspire for greatness and everything shall fall in place.

11. Meet Aditi Nundy, who faced these challenges but did not let it stop her on the path to success. Her story is beautifully captured in this video.

Never stop fighting until you arrive at your destined place – that is, the unique you. Have an aim in life, continuously acquire knowledge, work hard, and have the perseverance to realise the great life.

I realized a very important thing a few days ago. When we term a particular action as wrong or unfair, we tend to ignore the perspective and thinking of the person who commits the action. Does he think it’s wrong too? Maybe he doesn’t. The very idea of right and wrong is greatly determined by the conditioning that one goes through.

Being a progressive person, you know very well that household chores and laundry are NOT the role of the woman ALONE. But so many people never act on this and take it for granted. This has a lot to do with the conditioning within their own homes, when they probably never saw their dads help with the household work. But, it’s still never too late. We can still address this disparity by the simple action of #ShareTheLoad

Ariel India has made this beautiful video in which a Dad writes a heartfelt letter to his daughter to apologize for not setting a good example as he didn’t help his wife in household work.

It’s a request to all the dads to #ShareTheLoad and join in the responsibility of laundry and other household chores!

8 Things That Would Have Happened If The British Never Ruled India

The story 8 Things That Would Have Happened If The British Never Ruled India appeared first on StoryPick.

It’d be a lie if we said that we’re completely over the colonial hangover left over by the two centuries of British rule. Today, living in an independent India, it’s hard to imagine a foreign nation ruling over us. A lot of blood was shed for the sweet taste of freedom and there’s nothing that we cherish more than being independent.

Having said so, just for the sake of the mind’s exercise, let’s try to imagine the things that may have happened if the British never really ruled India.

1. The country may have been richer

According to Dadabhai Naoroji’s book, “Poverty And Un-British Rule In India”, the amount of wealth drained by the British from Indian resources amounted to 4 million pounds every year. Therefore, India may not have been a “third world” nation in the first place, had the British never ruled the country.

It can be assumed that we would not have to deal with the devastating destitution had we n0t have to start off from a point where the British had left us almost economically barren.

2. What about Democracy?

There’s hardly any suggestion of democracy in pre-British India. The British introduced the Parliamentary elections in India with the Indian Council Act of 1861. It was the first time that Indians could vote for the Lok Sabha which translates to “Council of the people”.

Although the British would retain responsibilities for the defense and foreign affairs of India, they did introduce electoral systems to the country which otherwise may have remained a monarchy for years to follow.

3.  World War II wouldn’t have affected India

India had always been a peaceful nation and would have nothing to with the World War II had it not been under the rule of the British. More than two million sons of our soil were sent to fight the Axis powers in a war we had nothing to do with.

The unscrupulous wartime policies of the British to supply food to soldiers at war led to the shortage of food in Bengal and Bihar causing millions of deaths out of starvation. The devastation of the Second World War was not something India ever needed.

4. The formation of a consolidated army

Today, India has one of the strongest defense in the world. However, it would have been difficult for India to form such a strong army today had it not been trained for warfare under the British.

Contradicting the previous point, India’s involvement in the World War helped the country form a discipline needed in international warfare and handling modern ammunition and incorporating advanced battle techniques could have remained far-fetched for India without the British influence.

5. Indian industries may have flourished better

The industrial revolution of Britain owes much to de-industrialization of our country. The Indian textile industry was almost destroyed and our raw materials were used to manufacture textiles in England which were sold back to us along with the rest of the world.

The hand-loom weavers of Bengal were imposed with sky-high tariffs, had their looms broken and reduced to beggars. Therefore, India could have been the largest exporters of textiles in the world had their ways not been curbed by the British.

6. The abolition of Sati

The most heinous Hindu practice where a widow would be burnt alive on the pyre of her deceased husband was finally abolished in 1829 in certain parts of India, starting from Bengal and rest of the Princely states followed suit. Apparently, Mughal king, Akbar, and Aurungzeb had tried to ban the custom but their implementations were not fruitful.

Although personalities like Sahajanand Swami and Raja Rammohan Roy had struggled hard to abolish the practice, it would have been a tough job had the British not backed the cause, especially with the widespread protest from the Hindu community against the ban.

7. The introduction of western education

Not that India had any dearth of an academic depth of its own but the introduction of western education had helped the country in various aspects, including gaining independence. The British had introduced English to the Indian bourgeois for convenience in bureaucratic work.

However, this was a gateway for the Indians to a world of literature which had exposed them to tales of revolutions in history that eventually inspired Indians to start a well-educated fight for freedom. India may not have formed such a well-rounded worldview had western education not been introduced by the British.

8. Progress would have been witnessed without Indians paying dearly for it

Technological advancements such as setting up telegraph posts, connecting railways, airways and progress in the fields of medicine and academics would have flourished even without the British.

It might have taken its own sweet time and this delay in progress would have been much more sustainable compared to the centuries of plunder of Indian resources that had reduced the country to something that can be viewed as a developing nation by the west.

However, we would have missed the Anglo-Indian culture that has become an integral part of the country, had the British never been here.

11 Phrases That Mean Much More Than ‘I Love You’ To Your Partner

The story 11 Phrases That Mean Much More Than ‘I Love You’ To Your Partner appeared first on StoryPick.

The three words that profess your love are magical.

They may be said in the intense heat of passion, after a casual glance or in a melted embrace but mean exactly the same thing – the conveyance of love. It takes so much courage to say the three words because you leave yourself open to the other person, inviting them to love you, as you love them.

But these three words are not the only string of words in the vocabulary of words that will move a person.

Some phrases mean so much more than ‘I love you’ and it makes the relationship somehow transcend even the boundaries of love to a place where the soul is happier than it ever was.

1. “I am here.”

Being in love is easy. Being dependable is hard work. Being with the person you love in the good times is an easy job, but being with the person when they are going through a low that makes them bitter and upset is probably the best thing you can do for them.

As they say, smooth sailing doesn’t make good sailors, and just like that, taking the wheel during rough sailing makes the relationship stronger.

2. “It is going to be OK.”

Sounds cliched but at least, one person in the relationship should be an optimist through all terrains – rough and smooth.

Positivity should never be lost, even at the lowest of times and by just believing and convincing your love that the future is going to be bright can make a huge difference in the mindset of the both of you.

3. “It’s fine.”

Even in the “perfect” relationships, someone is bound to get offended by something the other person said. And because it is love, the person who said the offensive thing will feel sad after some time.

You need a big heart to take the offense, diffuse it and let it go. And by letting go, there should be enough room in your heart to even tell it to the other person that you have let it go.

It eases you and your love equally.

4. “I am sorry.”

While forgiving takes heart, asking for forgiveness takes bigger heart in these days of inflated egos. But apologies have become so shallow that these three words sometimes do not mean anything.

You really need to have a deep heart to accept your wrongs and ask for forgiveness, and not think for a second that just because you two know each other so well, apologies are just formalities.

5. “Why don’t you tell me all about it?”

Talking to each other is an indicator of a good relationship. But listening to the other person when they are agitated or just sad, or just happy about something is equally important.

Having the patience of just keeping your day aside for a few minutes and listening to your love talk about their day strengthens your bonds. It makes you empathize with your love  – how their day was, what they face during the course of their day, how they deal with problems. It will only make you know your love better.

6. “Relax, I will do it.”

In the hectic world we live in today, someone has to pitch in for some extra time when the other person is tired. If your love has some chores to do and has been stressed out lately, pitch in with help and do their share.

Small sacrifices (if you want to call them that) like these go a long way in making the other person feel better.

7. “Drop a text when you reach.”

Caring for a person goes a long way. It is the transition time between locations that worries us the most. Letting a person know that you are here to care genuinely for them makes a lot of difference.

It makes the other person feel safer. But this line has to be treated carefully since there is a fine line between genuine worry and keeping compulsive tabs on your love.

8. “What do you think about it?”

General conversations are fine. Talking about your day is a good thing. But you need to talk with your love about deeper issues. There have to be discussions, debates, and arguments about subjects that interest both of you. regardless of the way the discussions turn out, they make both of you talk about life in a much deeper way.

It challenges both of you and keeps the relationship interesting.

9. “How are you feeling?”

Some of us just get when the other person is worried. It is important to go ahead and ask if everything is ok. Not with the intention that you are going to make the problem magically disappear, but you are there to care even if your love doesn’t want to talk about it.

10. “You look beautiful/handsome today.”

You know that your love is beautiful, but in the hustle bustle of life, and the rush of it, we forget to take a few seconds off and appreciate the beauty of the person you are in love with.

Take an extra couple of seconds and go ahead and tell them that they look beautiful.

11. “I got your back.”

While “I am here” conveys consolation, “I have your back.” conveys security. There is no better feeling in this world that there is one person in your corner who is the rock of your life that will not move come what may.

You are in love. Be grateful of this at the end of the day too.

Say thank you. It goes a long way.

16 Things That Should Be On Your Search List Instead Of Looking For A Soulmate

The story 16 Things That Should Be On Your Search List Instead Of Looking For A Soulmate appeared first on StoryPick.

A soulmate.

We are at a point in our lives, where we start looking for someone or have fantasized about having a person in our life who is made just for us. But you might want to rethink and accept that the concept itself is faulty because we put unrealistic expectations on the people in our lives to give us more than they can.

Here are a few things you should look within another person and yourself instead of a soulmate, and maybe become someone’s soulmate.

1. Search for patience within yourself and others

Patience is a virtue of the thoughtful, and it should be possessed by everyone to be happier and more understanding of others.

2. Be attracted to intelligence which will inspire you

The one thing everyone should be in the quest of is knowledge. There is nothing that’ll help you become a better person and take you higher than the awareness of your surroundings at a perceived level. One should strive to surround themselves with people that have more knowledge and constantly be a student of nature.

3. Look for a fulfilling career and accept the one you have as a stepping stone of getting there

There’s nothing more fulfilling than doing what you love. Being good at something and having that as your deemed profession should be the dream and everything you come across will teach you something that’ll come to use when you reach there.

4. Search for confidence within yourself

To attain anything, you’ll have to take the first step. You cannot rely on wallowing and expecting others to spoon feed you. For being able to put your foot forward, you need confidence.

5. Look for empathy for the people who are less fortunate than you

To understand the things that are happening to you, you need to learn that you’re not the only one. That is called sympathy. Taking sympathy to the next level is being empathetic. Empathy is feeling pain in another’s suffering, which makes you more aware and understanding to other’s pain and enables you to take steps for their betterment which in turn make you a better person.

6. Be on a quest for joy, it matters more than you think

Look into a mirror, see yourself smile. What do you see?

7. Search for freedom from all the chains that are holding you back

Freedom. Fly away in the ever expanding skies of your mind and tell me, what do you see?

8. Search for flaws in yourself instead of finding them in others

We are not perfect. Nobody can be. That doesn’t mean we nurture our flaws like one nurtures a baby. We should always try to be the better version of us.

9. Look for strength and belief in your own capabilities so that you can do the same for others

To be able to believe in others and love them, you need to do the same for yourself.

10. Find a purpose for you to chase in life

A purpose in life is what you need to find instead of a soulmate. You’ll eventually find a soulmate in this quest because you’ll respect their purpose.

11. Look for less instead of demanding more

The more you desire, the less you get. Desire for less in life, you’ll get more than you need.

12. Look for gentleness in other’s eyes

The people who look at you gently are the people who love you the most. Keep them close.

13. Look for productivity instead of waiting for the world to take you up

Get up and get going. You cannot expect the world to wait for you to arrive.

14. Search for forgiveness if you’ve made mistakes

Seek forgiveness from those who you’ve hurt and be forgiving to those who’ve hurt you. Holding grudges has helped nobody.

15. Search for a way you can expand your mind

Look for something that gives you peace. It could be anything from reading a book to going on a hike. Do something that consumes you to a meditative level.

16. Search for those friends who will be there with you in your bad times as well as the good ones

We live in a society which has no place for friends. We have specific designations in our priority list – family, boyfriends, girlfriends, bosses, colleagues, and so on. We don’t really put friends high on that list although they are the ones who come running whenever you need them. Thank them for being in your life and keep them close to your heart.

So many treasures to find.
